History
Intent
At The Oaks Primary School and Nursery, we aim to inspire our children’s curiosity about the past, developing their questioning skills and thinking critically. We encourage our children to reflect and question different perspectives. We want our children to think, write and question like a historian.
Chronology is at the heart of the curriculum coverage, ensuring that our children can place significant eras, people and events in order. Our coverage will ensure that children build on knowledge over time, gaining a deep and meaningful understanding of British, world and local history.

Assessment
History is assessed after each unit and through mini quizzes throughout the topics. Teachers identify who is exceeding expectations and children who are not meeting the expected standard. Teachers will be mindful of any significant groups who are not making progress and ensure they keep a close on how to support them the following term.
